What’s In My Bag- Makeup Edition

So last week I did a poll on my Insta-stories, and the votes won that people would read a post about what’s in my makeup bag! I am by no means a makeup expert, and I definitely don’t do it every single day. But since I started staying home, I’ve really come to enjoy taking a few minutes to do my face and feel a little put together. (And I do mean a few minutes. It takes me no longer than 12.5 minutes to do my makeup, and that’s if I go all out. I can do my basic “mom makeup” in about 5 minutes.)

What's In My Bag- Makeup Edition

I’ve tried a lot of makeup in my day, y’all. Whenever I used to run out of anything, I would replace it with another brand just because. I had no brand loyalty. Fast forward a few years, and I’ve found certain products that I have become pretty die-hard about. I use a mix of higher end brands and drugstore brands. There are just certain products I’ll never be able to justify spending a high price tag for.

I’m just going to run through everything I have in my bag, and there will be links at the bottom if you’re interested in getting anything for yourself! Also, please don’t mind the beat up cases and bottles and less than clean brushes. I’ve had a lot of this stuff for quite a while, and I use it hard!

Pre- Makeup

What's In My Bag- Makeup EditionBefore I start, I wash my face using the Saranghae skin care I talked about in this post. (Love. This. Stuff.) After that, I use Clinique’s 72 Hour Moisture Surge, then spritz my face with Younique’s rose water. The rose water is something I got in a bundle that I purchased. It had been an item I really wanted to try but couldn’t really justify buying. I love it so much, so I’m glad I got the chance to try it! This is when I also use e.l.f.’s lip exfoliator. Anyone else have the DRYEST lips in all the land during winter? No, just me? This stuff helps keep my lips smooth, but you really have to be consistent with it!

Base

I use primer next. I never used primer before it came in a bundle I bought with Younique, and now I hate putting on my foundation without it! It really does just plug in all my pores and wrinkles so my make up goes on so much smoother! Also, makes my face crazy soft, so, #bonus. Then it’s either Younique BB Flawless Cream or Younique (Magic) Mineral Touch Liquid Foundation.

Let’s talk foundation a quick sec. I would use a bottle, love it to start, hate it halfway through, then start the cycle over with another brand. This is the FIRST liquid foundation that I LOVE and have bought more than one bottle of. I love it. It doesn’t feel like I’m wearing anything, but it provides such great coverage! I alternate between using this and the BB Cream. The BB Cream is perfect when I’m just running out for quick errands- it evens out my skin and provides great moisture, and works perfect if I don’t need heavy coverage. I also love it in summer because of how light weight it is. (But also great for winter because of how moisturizing it is. So what I’m saying is, you can’t go wrong.)

After the foundation is the concealer. Again, I’ve tried so many brands of concealer, and Younique is the first brand that stays put all day long. It’s also incredibly pigmented. I’ve had the bottle in the picture for a year and a half and there’s still quite a bit left! Next is just a finishing powder. I’ve had this L’Oréal Hydrating powder forever, and it works just fine for me! I just use this over my concealer to help make sure it stays put.

Bronzer & Blush

What's In My Bag- Makeup EditionI use Younique’s Beachfront Bronzer to (very lightly) contour my cheeks. I already have crazy sharp facial features, so I don’t like to do too much. But I like the little bit of dimension it gives me, and this product is again, super pigmented, you hardly need any! And I top it off with CoverGirl blush that I’ve had for.ever.

Eyes

What's in My Bag- Makeup EditionMy favorite part! Although, let’s be real, this is the part that mostly gets skipped when I’m doing mom-makeup. I got both the Naked palette and the Naked 2 palette as Christmas gifts a bit ago, and I love them! I love the neutral shades; they’re so perfect for everyday! If you look closely, you can easily see my go-to’s…and also where Oliver broke one of the colors (insert eye roll here).

What's In My Bag- Makeup Edition What's In My Bag- Makeup EditionI was also recently gifted this palette from my sister in law, and I love it, too! I love the glimmer and matte options, and the colors are so pretty! The colors are definitely not quite as pigmented, but that’s actually good for me because I can tend to go a little heavy…

What's In My Bag- Makeup EditionOk y’all, next is something I said I would never do…and that is my eyebrows. In my defense, though, that was pre post-partum hair loss, which, after Zoey, decided to leave patches of major hair thinning in eyebrows and they look awful. I’m not good at filling in my brows and I hardly do much at all. But I do use e.l.f. brow pencil in taupe to help em out just a little bit. (I like this pencil, but I do use my finishing powder over them or else it wears off quickly.) What's In My Bag- Makeup EditionFor eyeliner, I LOVE Revlon’s brown liquid liner. I’ve tried several brands, and this is by far my favorite. It stays on all day, it doesn’t smudge, and the brown-black color is just perfect for my blue eyes. I did also recently try Younique’s pencil liner in perfect (black), and I like it a lot and do use it if I just throw liner on quick, but overall I’m a diehard liquid liner girl. LAST is the mascara!

What's In My Bag- Makeup EditionI am OBSESSED with Younique’s Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes. They add so much length and volume. It is pricey for mascara, though, so I don’t use it everyday. I just also recently tried their one step Epic mascara, and that’s my new favorite everyday mascara for sure. I think the e.l.f. mascara is my favorite cheap brand.

What's In My Bag- Makeup EditionAnd just a quick look at some brushes I use. I’m not fancy with these, most are e.l.f. or ones that I’ve had forever. I will say, though, that the crease brush (e.l.f.) has helped my eyeshadow look sooo much better! I also got these ecotools brushes as a Christmas gift this year, and they’re all really great!

What's In My Bag- Makeup EditionWhat's In My Bag- Makeup EditionSo that’s it! It sounds like a lot when I’m sitting down typing it all out, but my easy mom makeup legit takes 5 minutes, and even when I go fancy, it takes about 12.5. Maybe.

I put some links right below if you’re interested in anything! Just a disclaimer that some of these may be affiliate links- my full disclosure is here. Also, I don’t sell Younique, but my cousin does. She does phenomenal makeup videos and you can contact her if you need any help color matching- you can like her page here if you’re interested!

My sweet friend Linsie just did a similar post, so if you like checking out other mama’s makeup products, make sure you head over to her blog and check it out! Even if you don’t care about the makeup, she’s got AMAZING healthy recipes, so be sure to check those out!!

I never buy eye makeup products but those naked palettes have been on my mind. They’re so pretty! Also, I need to try that setting powder!!! Thanks for including me on this! You’re stunning Alex. Fo real.

I never did eyeshadow until recently, and these are my favorite because of how neutral they are- not a fan of a super bold eye on myself!! Thanks, Linsie!! 💛💛

This was a really fun read! The older I’ve gotten, the more attention I pay to what I put on my face before makeup as well!! It’s super important for me to stay well hydrated!

I’ve never tried anything from Younique, but I’m so intrigued! What’s your fav product from them you’d recommend for a first-timer? I love my Naked 2 pallet and busted it out again because of you; it’s just a no-brainer and looks good every time!

One of my fav makeup products right now is the Too Faced Candlelight Glow Powder (gotta fake that prego glow somehow). It’s an oldie, but a goodie!
