Homemade Lemon Drop Martini

Hello, friends!
I consider this a safe space, so I’m gunna be vulnerable and honest here.
I do not love wine.
This is almost like a cardinal sin in mom-world, but it’s just not my favorite. My preferred drink of choice? A lemon drop martini.
Oh. My. Gosh. Y’all, I don’t even like vodka, but I love these so much. The Cheesecake Factory is where I originally fell in love with them. They’re served in a (big) beautiful martini glass with some ice remnants that make it perfectly chilled, a wonderful tartness married with the sweetness of the sugar rim, and a fun lemon twist for looks. So good. But let’s face it- I rarely have $11 to drop on one drink. Enter this homemade version!
I was always nervous about making these at home because I never found a brand of lemonade that I really loved. I’ve tried several and they’re all either too tart or too sweet; I couldn’t find my happy medium. What I really love? Fresh squeezed lemonade. I will buy this at Chick-Fil-A and the farmers market every single time. So I decided to try my hand at making it the other day, a little skeptically, I might add, but it ended up being hands down one of the best decisions I’ve made recently.
I doubled the recipe because we were having friends over, and we went through it all! (Not all on martini’s- we had regular lemonade with dinner and waited until the kids went to bed to bust the martini’s out. #standards) Absolut Citron is what we had on hand- add a little sugar rim and YUM!
This is a short and sweet post today because it’s pretty outside of what I usually post, but I thought this “recipe” was so good I just had to share! I hope you enjoy!

- Mix sugar and 1 cup of water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Whisk and heat until sugar is dissolved to make a simply syrup, about 8 minutes.
- Meanwhile, squeeze lemons (8 or more depending on size- you're looking for about 1.5 cups of lemon juice). Mix lemon juice with 8 cups of water.
- When simple syrup is cooled, mix with lemon juice and water.
- Sprinkle sugar on a plate. Run a lemon wedge around the rim of your glass, then dip in sugar.
- Mix vodka and 1 cup lemonade in shaker with ice; strain into glass. Garnish with lemon wedge if desired.
